rhythms of life and all that
about my job:
it is christmas eve nine times a week. the weather is always the same. three fog machines and two kinds of fake snow. 70 degrees or so. light shines through windows, always the same, no matter whether it’s a matinee or an evening performance.

oh, and:

the photo on the left is me, stacia-sounds-like-fuchsia, your Most Visible Friend, as captured by my mom’s iphone on thanksgiving. the photo on the right is me at work. the backstage bathroom is to me as a phonebooth is to superman/clark kent. i think i need a superhero stagehand name. i welcome your suggestions.
about my life:
a couple nights ago i took the bus home, ’cause, i dunno, i was tired and when the weather sucks it is so easy to find excuses not to ride my bike. a couple stops after i got on, this belligerent and evidently intoxicated guy got on and started throwing around shits and motherfuckers and whatyoulookinats. one woman threw a little “well, i never!” fit and got off the bus in a loud and angry huff a few stops later. i raised my eyebrows and thought to myself about how some people sure do just seek out conflict and drama. then another guy, more subtly, moved to sit down near this guy, and when he got a whatyoulookinat and a youlookintostartsomethin or two, responded “nothin’ man, just calm down” over and over again. but he was totally lookin’ to start something, just like the huffy woman was (and the belligerent dude, too, of course). if none of us had reacted at all, the belligerent dude wouldn’t have had anybody to throw his curses at, and i bet he would’ve gotten bored pretty fast. you get it?
let’s just say it was a well-timed lesson for me, and that crappy weather and kinda inconvenient work hours and all, i am so pleased with my life.
